VIDEO: The ongoing persecution and execution of LGBT Iraqis

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Human rights groups have called Iraq one of the world’s most dangerous places to live for members of the LGBT community.

Although homosexuality is decriminalized in Iraq, today there is a clash between secular authority and Sharia law. Numerous reports have documented the arrests, torture and executions of Iraqis who were suspected of being gay. Many of the executioners were known to be vigilantes and death squad members.

Some of the human rights groups have accused the United States and Great Britain of ignoring the abuses.

The following video documents some of the atrocities and offers way to help.
