SAN DIEGO -- As part of its efforts to help prepare the next generation of LGBT and allied equality leaders, The San Diego LGBT Community Center, through its Young Professionals Council (YPC), will launch the first YPC Academy this year.
Applications are now being accepted for the inaugural YPC Academy, which will consist of six leadership development courses, held on the weekend, over a three-month period this spring. Each course will be a full day of training and discussion and will focus on a specific area of leadership development.
The Academy will encourage participation in a variety of agencies, not-for-profit organizations and government commissions and will work with the graduates to assist them in obtaining placements.
Courses will be held from 9 am to 4 pm on the Saturdays of March 31, April 14, April 28, May 12, May 26 and June 9.
Applications for the program are due by 5 pm Friday, March 16. Those who wish to apply should submit a resume and a 400-word essay on why they would like to participate in the program to Denise Serrano at firstname.lastname@example.org by the deadline.
Members of the first YPC Academy class will be announced on Monday, March 19.
