SAN DIEGO -- The second lecture in San Diego State University's new Finding Leadership Under Identity (FLUID) series will be a discussion on LGBT homeless youth on Wednesday, March 21, at 6:30 pm.
The public is welcome to attend the lecture, which was organized to focus on the diversity of the LGBTQ and ally community. Through the FLUID series, SDSU hopes to expand the knowledge and understanding of important topics while building community.
Michelle Atkins of San Diego Youth Services and Carolina Alcoser Ramos of the San Diego LGBT Community Center's Latino Services will speak on Wednesday night's panel, along with two young adults who will share about their experiences as homeless youths.
While admission to the event is free, participants are encouraged to bring donations of art supplies, individually wrapped snacks and $5 grocery store gift cards for the Storefront Shelter and Sunburst Youth Housing Project.
SDSU's FLUID lecture series kicked off last month with a presentation on the United States Armed Forces in the post-Don't Ask, Don't Tell era.
The lecture will take place in SDSU's Fowler Athletics Center Auditorium off 55th Street.
