HRC releases brief on HIV/AIDS and the LGBT community

WASHINGTON - The Human Rights Campaign today released an issue brief framing many of the issues set to be discussed at today’s White House LGBT Conference on HIV/AIDS in Atlanta, Ga.

Dr. Grant Colfax, director of the White House Office of National AIDS Policy, and Dr. Kevin Fenton of the Centers for Disease Control will deliver remarks at this conference. It is the fourth in a series of such conferences hosted by the White House.

“HIV/AIDS affects all Americans, but continues to disproportionately impact the LGBT community, particularly people of color,” outgoing HRC President Joe Solmonese said. “We applaud the Obama Administration for their continued efforts in both raising awareness and fighting the epidemic.”

Today’s conference will be held on the campus of the Morehouse School of Medicine and will feature speakers, workshops and panel discussions on a variety of topics pertaining to HIV/AIDS and the LGBT community.
