SAN DIEGO -- Canvass For A Cause has called for a Same-Sex Kiss Day next week at the Chick-fil-A fast-food restaurants in San Diego and Oceanside.

Chick-fil-A has been flooded with bad press this month after company president Dan Cathy said he was “guilty as charged” for giving millions of dollars in corporate profits to fund anti-gay activism.

Then, after the Jim Henson Co. ended its toy deal with Chick-fil-A over the anti-gay activism, Chick-fil-A declared that the toys were defective and would be recalled, a bizarre move that made it look like the fast-food chain not only hated the gays but also hated the Muppets.

LGBT advocates and allies have been organizing protests and boycotts against Chick-fil-A. Locally, Canvass For A Cause is leading the charge.

The first kiss-in is scheduled at 5 pm Friday, Aug. 3, at the Chick-fil-A, 3570 Sports Arena Blvd., San Diego.

The second kiss-in has been scheduled at 5 pm Friday, Aug. 3, at the Chick-fil-A, 3475 Marron Road, Oceanside.
