HRC sets Friday as national call-in day to finally repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"

WASHINGTON – As momentum continues to build in the push to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is ramping up its' efforts to lobby for the end of the discriminatory policy.

This morning, the HRC announced a national call-in day that will take place Friday to encourage Senators to take up the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) before they recess for the elections. The NDAA contains language to repeal the failed “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” law that has hurt our national security.

Grassroots supporters push for repeal ahead of key Senate votes

Dedicated Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) volunteers have kept up the momentum from coast to coast these past few weeks, making sure their senators are on board to vote for repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” which is expected to come to the Senate floor later this month.

At Oberlin College in Ohio, more than 900 students received an action alert encouraging them to contact their senators, and later this week straight and gay veterans and SLDN supporters will be meeting with key Senate staffers.

SLDN issues national action alert urging repeal supporters to set up in-state meetings now

WASHINGTON -- Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN), a national, legal services and policy organization dedicated to ending “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” (DADT), issued a national action alert today to members and advocates.

The action alert, signed by former Petty Officer Second Class Jed Batchelder, U.S. Navy, asks supporters to schedule in-state meetings with their U.S. senators ahead of the Senate floor vote expected just weeks from now.

Pentagon's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" Working Group leaders to meet with Servicemembers United's Military Partners Group

WASHINGTON - Servicemembers United said today that the leadership and staff of the Pentagon's Comprehensive Review Working Group on "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" will meet with a group of lesbian and gay military partners during Servicemembers United's Military Partners Forum on Sept. 16.

The meeting will be a first of its kind for both the Pentagon and for the military partner community.
