LETTER TO THE COMMUNITY: There is still work to be done until DADT disappears

Dear supporters, allies and friends,

With the president signing legislation into law that provides a pathway to repeal, the SLDN family and greater LGBT community, along with our allies, should be proud of the role each person played in making history. But the job is not done.

LETTER TO THE COMMUNITY with ACTION ALERT: Turn an enemy into a valuable ally

Dear friends,

Recently there has been significant press about the former Commanding Officer of the USS Enterprise, Capt. Owen Honors. This is due to a series of videos he made for the crew of 6,000 service members four years ago that contained anti-LGBT propaganda and sexist words and visuals. This happened while he was the Executive Officer.

Many folks are glad that he was relieved of his command. He is not yet fired. However, if he is fired, our LGBT community will miss a golden opportunity. If instead of being fired he was rehabilitated, we could turn an enemy into a valuable ally.
