Nevada legislature passes bills protecting transgender rights

WASHINGTON - The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) today lauds the Nevada legislature for passing two vital pieces of legislation, SB 331 and SB 368, protecting transgender rights.

Both bills incorporate gender identity and expression into the state's non-discrimination law, one specific to housing and the other to public accommodations. Earlier this month, the Nevada legislature added gender identity and expression to the employment non-discrimination law. The bills now move to Gov. Brian Sandoval’s desk for his consideration.

Department of Labor enacts new policies in favor of transgender people

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Transgender Law Center (TLC) is applauding the announcement by the U.S. Department of Labor that it will "explicitly prohibit work place discrimination on the basis of gender identity within the department."

The changes in employment policy also included additional updated policies which now prohibit discrimination based on sex, including gender identity and pregnancy.

San Diegan speaks in Texas on transgender issues; Dallas County votes to add rights
