VIDEO: Freedom to Marry to run $10-million ad campaign for marriage equality

NEW YORK -- After analyzing six years of extensive research data, Freedom to Marry has launched "Why Marriage Matters", which the organization expects to be the largest-ever national public education campaign aimed at increasing majority support for ending the exclusion of same-sex couples from marriage.

Freedom to Marry will be running ads nationwide featuring gay, lesbian and straight couples talking about why marriage matters to them.

WASHINGTON – Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has joined a cast of well-known New Yorkers who are calling for marriage equality in the state and across the nation.

In a video message as part of the Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) "New York Yorkers for Marriage Equality" campaign Kennedy, who is the nephew of the late President John F. Kennedy, said that the ban on same-sex marriage "is the last vessel of institutionalized bigotry that is left in this country ... and we need to get rid of it."

VIDEO: HRC equality video submission to NOM's "Reel Love" campaign rejected

WASHINGTON – The Human Rights Campaign’s NOM Exposed project on Wednesday submitted a video on marriage equality to the National Organization for Marriage’s Ruth Institute.

The Institute put out a “Reel Love” video challenge calling for submissions explaining “what makes lifelong love possible.” One of the judging criteria the Ruth Institute specifies is that videos must “convey how lifelong love between one man and one woman is possible.”

In spite of the fact that HRC’s video was posted on the Institute’s website, it was removed an hour later.

Jason Mraz vows not to wed fiancée until gays can marry

Don't worry about finding the perfect wedding gift for Jason Mraz and Tristan Prettyman -- it may be awhile before they say "I Do."

Though the "I'm Yours" crooner, 33, popped the question in December, he tells UsMagazine.com he won't be making Prettyman his bride until gay marriage becomes legal.

"We both feel that in our engagement, we have a union that's really special and can't be broken. It's a sacred bond," the singer explained at Elton John's Concert to Benefit the American Foundation for Equal Rights in Beverly Hills on Wednesday.
