Just when I'm feeling optimistic about the progress were making for LGBT Americans, I'm reminded we still have a long way to go.

A few days ago, one of the Victory Fund's endorsed candidates for Congress found the word "fag" spray-painted over a number of his campaign yard signs.

Fag.

It's just paint on cardboard, but that word still feels like a punch in the gut.

We're still waiting for Judge Vaughn Walker's pending decision in the federal Prop. 8 trial. But the marriage equality movement just won another major federal court victory.

A federal judge in Massachusetts ruled that a large part of the "Defense of Marriage Act" -- the 1996 federal law banning recognition of same-sex marriage by the federal government -- is unconstitutional.

WASHINGTON -- The president calls on Republicans in Congress to put scoring political points aside, and instead to focus on solving the problems facing the nation.

At the time of this address, the Republican leadership is blocking progress on a bill to boost the economy, retain jobs for teachers and cops, and help people buy their first home; another bill which would hold oil companies accountable for any disasters they cause by removing the current $75 million liability cap; and 136 highly qualified men and women who have been nominated to government positions.

The outcomes are generally very favorable for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Californians and could prove to be history making. There are, however, some dangerous candidates on the horizon that will require our community to be energized and cohesive in order to beat them.

Nearly every single EQCA-endorsed candidate won their primary, and we were hard at work helping to make that happen.
