Ferragosto is one of the most celebrated holidays in Italy, a treasured time that allows all to enjoy the luxuries of leisure and entertainment. Heaping tables of food are shared by friends and fun-filled festivals are the talk of the town. Here in San Diego, our own Little Italy is hosting a celebration unlike any other to commemorate this cherished holiday.
Happening on Saturday, August 13, Ferragosto 2011 brings the Venetian Masquerade experience straight to San Diego from 6pm ‘til midnight, featuring an evening of dancing under the stars, incredible food served by top restaurants, along with plenty of fun and entertainment.
As any proper Italian will tell you, the cuisine is the most important part of a party. Thus, only the most mouth-watering of restaurants will be serving fare in an elegant setting, complete with table service. Ferragosto allows all to sample culinary creations from Vigilucci’s, Acqua Al 2, Bencotto Italian Kitchen, Anthology, Tommy V’s and more.
A costume contest will be taking place throughout the evening, so guests are encouraged to come in full Venetian regalia. The finest combination of vivid silks, dramatic satins, and eye-catching masks will take home a $500 prize. For those not quite sure about donning a masquerade costume, cocktail attire is recommended.
