Baja Betty’s will be having their 6th annual White Trash Prom at 6 pm Saturday.
For those of you out there who have yet to experience this event, the theme is to come dressed as hillbillies on prom night: tuxedos and overalls, maternity prom dresses, and the like. Remember, the higher the hair, the closer to heaven!
As in past years, there'll be drink/shot specials (Sweet Tea is once again a sponsor), prizes and giveaways, and a “White Trash boo-fay” (last year, if I recall, included such delicacies as Vienna sausages and ketchup). And at 11 pm will be the climactic crowning of this year's King and Queen of the Double Wide.
Popsicle at Rich's
Also this Saturday is SD PIX's quarterly Popsicle Party. This is always a fun and popular night; get ready for DJ Nikno to spin a night of all remixed pop music, including favorites by Britney, Madonna, Mariah and Lady Gaga, as well as hot go-go boys handing out free popsicles to the crowd towards the end of the evening.
Rage on the Bay ... sold out
If you were planning on going on this Sunday's Rage on the Bay birthday party cruise for John Sloane and David Kaye, featuring music by DJ John Joseph and a special live performance by Davina Kostiana Love, and you haven't bought tickets yet ... well, forget about it. I've just been told it's sold out. So, looks like I'll be there and you won't. Nya nya!
But there are a couple of silver linings out there for you procrastinators: 1) Mr. Sloane has informed me that another party cruise is scheduled for August, this one boasting (among other things) a really impressive laser display out on the water; and 2) Eden will the site of the cruise after-party, after the boat returns to dry land at 1 pm. So, maybe 2ish people should be arriving ... naturally, this will be open to all so feel free to stop by and wish the birthday boys a happy one!
Flicks anniversary party
Another great annual event this Sunday is Flick's 28th Anniversary Party, from noon to 7 pm. Look for shot specials, $2 Coors Light drafts, fabulous prizes given out all day (including a beach cruiser bike),and Laura's famous BBQ all day long.
Amazing High Heel Race results
As those of you who were there can attest, last Saturday's Amazing High Heel Race through Hillcrest was a sight to behold! And a roaring success: At least $5,000 for the new Hillcrest flagpole was raised directly, with more private donations connected with the event expected to swell that total even more.
Congratulations to all the winners:
1st place - Mija Cochinas: Team Captain Jimmie Read, Dan Anderson, Anthony Aragon, and Rob Leyva
2nd place - Super Vixens: Team Captain Brandy Madrid, Amanda Dougherty, Keley Heckman, and Katrina Anderson
3rd place - SD Call Girls: Team Captain Joseph Sims, Jonathan Hayes, Zach Hayes, John Dillon, Ryan Lee, and Mike Paganelli
... and here's honorees in the "special" categories (and how they managed to take home the big prize):
Highest Heel - SD Call Girls (One particular teammate in enormous heels had two "girl down" episodes, and had to use bright pink duct tape to keep her shoes from falling apart)
Fiercest Heel - HeelBillies (Cute little heels with a bright blue bow)
Biggest Blister - SD Call Girls (This blister was just begging to be honored, as it popped and was bleeding all over the stage during awards)
Most Team Spirit - Dubble Bumps (They created a video prior to the race to show their determination to win)
Biggest Cheaters - SD Call Girls (They rented a Limo Bus to get from point A to B while everyone else hoofed it on foot)
Hottest Mess - Hollywood Tans (members of this team had trouble standing during the awards ceremony, and had to be propped up)
And here's another video by the Dubble Bumps, giving us a taste of what it was like to compete this year (looks like it tasted a lot like cupcakes):
