SAN DIEGO -- San Diego Pix is taking its weekly WET contest to the next level with a series of new shows rolling out this month.
Every Thursday, the late night crowds flock to Bourbon Street Bar & Grill for what has become San Diego's most popular wet underwear contest. Each week, a new group of contestants sign-up to compete while the enthusiastic crowd cheers for their favorite underwear clad participant.
Adding to the fun will be four special WET theme nights this August, including Thirsty Thursday, The Male Box, Throwback WET and Trashy WET.
Benny Cartwright will be the evening's host for "Thirsty Thursday" on Thursday, Aug. 4, which will include a hosted bar by Smirnoff from 9:30 to 10:30 pm for those on the guest list.
DJ Marcel will spin all night long, and the WET contest will begin around midnight.
Those who wish to get on the guest list for the night should text 'SDPIX' to 313131 from their cell phone. After sending the text, a welcome message will be sent back that can be shown at the door for a wristband.
Customers who visit Bourbon Street on Thursday, Aug. 11, will get to partake in several activities throughout the night, hosted by SDPIX's newest host, Bunny Baxter.
Those who arrive early will be given $5 in "Bourbon Bucks" for their first regular priced drink before 10:30 pm.
Upon arrival, participants will be able to get a number for the Male Box game. Secret admirers will be able to leave messages for participants based on their number.
At 11 pm, Mankind will present a fashion show featuring underwear and tanks from Los Angeles designer Timoteo.
DJ Jon Sautter will spin, and Baxter will host the contest following the fashion show.
Tori Heart will host Throwback WET on Thursday, Aug. 18, which will celebrate the best of the 1980s and '90s.
Customers who dress up in an '80s or '90s themed outfit will receive $5 in "Bourbon Bucks" toward their first regular priced drink.
The wet underwear contest will start around midnight, with DJ Lil Chris spinning all night long.
The month long WET theme nights will conclude with Trashy WET on Thursday, Aug. 25, hosted by Tori Heart.
Half-priced pitchers of beer and Long Island Iced Tea will be served all night long, and those who dress up in a "trashy" themed outfit will receive $5 in "Bourbon Bucks" towards their first regular-priced drink.
Micahel Carrera will be the evening's DJ.
Smirnoff cocktails are half-priced all night long each Thursday, and $1 shot specials are available after each WET show.
Ken St. Pierre, director of sales and business development for Hale Media, said he is looking forward to these special nights at Bourbon Street.
"Our WET contest is already a very popular event, but we wanted to change it up a little bit this month to make the customers have an even more exciting experience," St. Pierre said. "Thursday nights at Bourbon Street are always filled with outrageous fun, and we are expecting it to be even more so this month with the costumes and drink specials."
Contestants in all WET shows compete for $500 in cash and prizes, distributed amongst the first, second, and third placing winners.
