SAN DIEGO -- Champagne will be flowing at parties and nightspots this New Year's Eve but one local establishment encourages adding cupcakes to the celebration.
Babycakes, which has quickly become a hot spot for food, drinks, sweet treats and socializing, will be ringing in 2012 with a celebration on Saturday night, followed by its popular Sunday brunch and afternoon "CHURCH" party.
The dessert, drinking and dining establishment will be open regular hours this weekend, from 9 am to midnight Saturday, and 9 am to 11 pm Sunday.
Those who visit on New Year's Eve will be able to take advantage of a special offer, which includes a $20 bottle of champagne and two free cupcakes.
In an invitation to customers, Babycakes wrote:
"We want to sweeten you up for the new year, so come in and celebrate with us. Come with friends or alone - there will be plenty of potential people to kiss when that clock strikes twelve! So pucker up, buttercup! We'll see you at the bar!"
On Sunday, Jan. 1, brunch will be available from 9 am to 3 pm, with selections such as red velvet hotcakes, the Mexi-Omelet, the "Skinny Bitch" and the "Chunky Monkey."
Following brunch, the bar and patio will be packed wall-to-wall with "Sunday Funday" revelers enjoying cocktails, treats, and music by a DJ. "CHURCH" has become a Sunday afternoon tradition for many, and is expected to be a fun Sunday because of the holiday.
Babycakes is located at 3766 Fifth Ave. in Hillcrest.
