SAN DIEGO -- Singers from the San Diego Gay Men's Chorus (SDGMC) have been invited to perform as special guests at the San Diego Symphony's "Pirates of the Caribbean" Summer Pops concert this Sunday, Aug. 19 at 7:30 pm.
The concert will feature a live screening of the blockbuster film "Pirates of the Carribean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" starring Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom and Geoffrey Rush. The film follows Captain Jack Sparrow and blacksmith Will Turner as they rescue Elizabeth Swann from the cursed crew of the Black Pearl and will be presented on the big screens throughout the venue.
The San Diego Symphony will perform the original score live, along with SDGMC.
Before the concert, a number of special activities will be presented, including a costume contest at 7 pm, a pirate ship on the bay, sword-fighting demonstrations, singing pirates and more.
After the movie, guests who wish to continue their evening will receive free cover into FLOAT at the Hard Rock Hotel.
Tickets cost $18 to $76 and can be purchased online.
Summer Pops Concerts are performed at Embarcadero Marina Park South, located on San Diego Bay off of Convention Way.
