MOVIE REVIEW: Disney’s “Tangled” twist on Rapunzel may be best animated film of the year

I always considered Rapunzel one of the less interesting fairy tale heroines. What kind of conversationalist could you be, stuck in a tower all those years with no one but a pushy mother to talk to? And that hair – yuck!

But I changed my mind when I met the new Disney 3-D CG version in “Tangled,” which opens nationwide on Wednesday, Nov. 24.

The Gay Guide to "Glee" - Season 2 Episode 8, “Furt”

I’m not the biggest fan of marriage. This isn’t just because it’s not legal for my boyfriend of 20 years and me to tie the knot in the state in which we live. Even if it were, I promise you we wouldn’t be going all matching tuxes and white gold bands and “You Are the Sunshine of My Life.” Something about the whole institution just grosses me out, in the same way that pet cemeteries or lungfish or gummy hamburger candies do. Blame it on the willful artifice.

Hi-Def Dish: Sandra Bernhard talks about comedy, parenting and the wing nut neighbors to the East

Mention Sandra Bernhard and most people think of her groundbreaking work on “Roseanne,” those fabulous lips, and a brash, sarcastic, take-no-prisoners liberalism that’s probably put her on an enemy’s list or two.

God love her. If there were a Tea Party for liberals, she’d be the one wearing the best hat: something by Chanel or Dior or Philip Tracy, according to the star herself. She has all the fire and conviction of a typical tea-bagger, but she’s far too bright to fall under the spell of anything so one-dimensional as a cranky, irrational shout-fest that offers all heat and no light.

For "Glee" bully Max Adler’s solo, Jane Lynch suggests “I Feel Pretty”

Max Adler plays Dave Karofsky, a meat-headed football player, on the hit show Glee, and until recently, he was most famous for his persistent bullying and body-checking—as well as his ability to accurately toss skin-staining Slushies in the chests and eyes of the members of the Glee Club. Everyone knows that only losers bully, so I assumed Karofsky was just another cruel and rotten jock.

Same-sex couple on Israeli “Dancing With The Stars” sent packing

JERUSALEM -- Israelis voted off the first same-sex partners on "Dancing with the Stars."

The end for television sportscaster Gili Shem Tov and professional dancer Dorit Milman came on the third week of this season, the reality show's fifth on the air.

Shem Tov is a lesbian married to a woman with whom she has a son. Milman, who is not a lesbian, was not aware that she had a female partner until Shem Tov walked into the studio for their first meeting.

VIDEO: Watch Jim Carrey zap David Letterman over juvenile gay question

NEW YORK – Jim Carrey, who plays gay in the movie “I Love You Phillip Morris,” visits “Late Night With David Letterman” to promote the film.

During the laugh-filled interview, Letterman asks a rather silly question about a straight guy playing gay in the movies, to which Carrey nicely told the host that his query was downright queery.

The movie was a hit at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and has already opened in Europe and Asia, where it has grossed about $17 million. However, the movie has had trouble finding a distributor in the U.S.
