Anthology wants you to Wang Chung tomorrow night

What do you say when you’ve coined a phrase that’s been quoted by major 20th century philosophers like Frazier Crane, Austin Powers and Homer Simpson?

If you’re Jack Hues, the vocalist/ guitarist of the 1980s band Wang Chung, you say, “Thank you very much.”

Wang Chung plays June 17 at Anthology, and if you don’t remember, Hues is the guy who originated the immortal phrase, “Everybody have fun tonight / Everybody Wang Chung tonight,” which, of course, was the title of a huge hit in 1987 that climbed to No. 2 on the U.S. charts.

To native Buffalonians, there are three ways to mess up chicken wings. Under-frying them is the most common mistake. Omitting butter or margarine from the hot sauce leaves the flavor incomplete. And serving them with Ranch dressing instead of blue cheese dip is an abomination punishable by two years of lockdown in a chicken coop.

VIDEOS: Spoofing McDonald's gay-friendly French ad

Well, that didn’t take long.

Leave it to the zany pranksters on the Web, and they will spoof anything.

McDonald’s gay-friendly ad for the French market gets a send-up all over the Internet. Here are two of them, following the original ad.

Review: iL CiRCo is visually and mentally stunning

SAN DIEGO -- Do not pass go, do not collect $200., but go directly to see iL CiRCo this weekend!

iL CiRCo is the amazing ACRO (acrobat) Circus that is now playing at Anthology through Sunday.

Enough cannot be said about the skills, agility, flexibility and sheer strength of the cast that make up this troupe of men and women. It will dazzle you. It will amaze you. It will literally knock your socks off.

Lesbians That Rock: Q & A with Ashley Matte

When it comes to queer San Diego artists and bands, few names stand out more than the rest and Ashley Matte is one of them.

This is largely due to the amount of talent she has, which has provided her a lot of visibility in the local LGBT community, the greater San Diego area and even beyond.

Matte plays to crowds who just cannot seem to get close enough to her and her music. They are drawn in and mesmerized by her voice and strumming guitar. Matte is able to play and sing a wide variety of music with the same conviction, passion and correct pitch, no matter the song.

I haven’t been to Shakespeare Pub & Grille in a few years, but after a recommendation from a friend, I decided to see what the Vegetarian Shepherd’s Pie was all about.

421 West B St., San Diego, 92101

Hours: 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., daily

Cuisine: Contemporary

Budget impact: High-moderate

Depending upon who you ask, the restaurant formerly known as RICE has been loosely renamed “Restaurant at the W.” Others are calling it “The W Restaurant.”

Either way, don’t assume that a blurred identity equates to tenuous cuisine. The kitchen’s latest incarnation, orchestrated by newly appointed chef John Garcia, is nothing short of brilliant.
