Jim Winsor’s Out & About: Martinis Above Fourth reprises Charity Wreath Auction this Monday

This week Martinis Above Fourth owners Jim Simpson and Doru Tifui will once again be hosting one of the biggest community charity events of the year.

The ninth annual Charity Wreath Auction is a benefit for the Eddie Conlon Youth Fund, which provides school supplies, scholarships and housing for LGBT youth, some of whom have been turned away by their families.

SDPIX presents Flight 1202 on Friday

SAN DIEGO -- SDPIX and Hillcrest's newest nightclub, 1202, will present a special travel-themed party on Friday night. "Flight 1202" will take off at 10 pm.

Many Hillcresters love to dress up in costume, so this party gives attendees another reason to do so. Customers are encouraged to take part in the theme by dressing in any type of travel attire.

Hillcrest Brewing Company creates limited-edition gingerbread beer for holidays

SAN DIEGO -- The holidays wouldn't be complete without gingerbread ... in a bottle!

The world's first LGBT brewery, Hillcrest Brewing Company (HBC), will be releasing a limited edition Gingerbread Beer this holiday season, and its creators hope you get a chance to try it.

The beer is so limited, in fact, that only 75 bottles have been made so those interested in trying it are encouraged to head to HBC as soon as possible to put their name on the reservation list. Those who place their orders now will be able to pick up their bottle starting on Wednesday, Dec. 19.

#1 Fifth Ave. to screen Kylie's "Aphrodite" tour on Sunday

SAN DIEGO -- Popular Hillcrest bar #1 Fifth Ave. will screen Kyle Minogue's Aphrodite concert on a large screen this Sunday, Nov. 18 at 6 pm.

Customers are welcome to watch the London concert on the bar's patio while enjoying drink specials and the company of others, at what is known by many as Hillcrest's friendliest bar.

Minogue's Aphrodite tour ran in 2011, to promote her "Aphrodite" album, which included hits such as "All The Lovers."

#1 Fifth Ave. is located at 3845 5th Ave. in Hillcrest.
