SUMMARY:Let\'s Misbehave! The Music and Wit of Cole Porter\, performed by San Diego Gay Men\'s Chorus\' \'Mood Swings\' Ensemble
DESCRIPTION:The Mood Swings\, the San Diego Gay Men\'s Chorus\' eleven-voice ensemble\, will present a rollicking song and dance revue\, showcasing the life\, music and wit of Cole Porter\, August 24-26 at San Diego’s Lyceum Theatre. Featuring more than 30 of his best-loved and most recognizable tunes\, “Let’s Misbehave!” showcases one of America’s most beloved and prolific musical theatre composers\, and the standards of style and wit to which today’s composers and lyricists aspire.“Let’s Misbehave!” showcases the multi-faceted dance and vocal skills of the brightest talent from the chorus at large\, and delivers the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus’ unique brand of irreverent humor in Cole Porter hits like “I Hate Men” and “Find Me A Primitive Man”. The revue is a fast-paced\, fully-satisfying buffet of the finest and most enduring work from Porter’s opus of more than a thousand songs.SDGMC Artistic Director Gary Holt marks his first featured performance in 25 years as he narrates the entire show from the onstage keyboard\, even turning in his own vocal rendition of Porter’s hilarious “Tale of the Oyster” at the Saturday evening performance. The revue’s director/choreographer\, Joey Landwehr\, narrates and adds his unique solo stylings for the Friday and Sunday performances. The show delves further into Porter’s weekends in the country and his fascination with the weekenders\, racquet clubbers\, and socialites of the era; followed by a glimpse into his private life. The show’s fascinating\, history-inspired narration takes the audience on a musical journey through Porter’s life\, starting with his early days at Yale University\, with songs like “Bingo Eli Yale\,” and “Bulldog\,” which are two Yale fight songs still sung by students today.Showtimes are Friday\, August 24 at 8 pm; Saturday\, August 25 at 8 pm; and Sunday\, August 26 at 3 pm.
