Look Better Naked: How hormones are an issue with men, too!

Hormones! Don’t we all love to talk about them?

I sure do because they affect every aspect of our lives. Today we’re going to focus on male hormones and how they can help you look, and feel, better naked!

One of the MOST important, and often overlooked, pillars of great health is having youthful levels of some key hormones. The hormones are all tied together. Each one affects the other.

Look Better Naked: Sometimes, you need more than cosmetics to feel fabulous

Looking good can be a LOT of work!

Those of you who already pump away at the gym five days a week know what I’m talking about! Or if you’ve shifted your dietary focus to whole, fresh, organic and raw foods, you’re already spending much more time in the kitchen, and at the grocery store, than most. Yes, diet and exercise are pillars of good health.

But what are some of the others? Managing stress, restful sleep, positive thinking … and for some, a spiritual connection. All of these things affect how you look and feel.

Study finds lesbian moms hesitant to report domestic abuse due to custody fears

URBANA, Ill -- Lesbian moms who are experiencing intimate partner violence are often reluctant to seek help for fear of losing custody of their children, said two University of Illinois professors.

"A lesbian mom's abuse situation is unique in that she fears losing her kids to the biological father or the state instead of the abuser," said Jennifer Hardesty, a U of I associate professor of family studies.

The study, the first to examine help-seeking for intimate partner violence among lesbian or bisexual mothers, appears in the January 2011 issue of Violence Against Women.

Oral sex called “bigger cause of throat cancer than tobacco”

They say the human papilloma virus spread during unprotected sex is to blame for a disturbing rise in potentially deadly oral cancers in the last few decades.

Doctors have called for boys to be vaccinated against HPV just like teenage girls to stop the spread of the disease.

Dr. Susan Love: Are lesbians more at risk for breast cancer?

On Saturday, I am speaking at an event at the San Diego LGBT Community Center called "Lesbians & Breast Cancer: A Town Hall Forum."

Whenever I speak at event specifically for lesbians, this is the first question I am inevitably asked to answer:

Is it true that lesbians are at greater risk of getting breast cancer?

The root of this question dates back to 1993, and a lesbian cancer researcher's hypothesis that lesbians might be two-to-three times more likely to develop breast cancer than heterosexual women.
