DEL MAR, Calif. -- San Diego Derby Dolls’ Swarm take on the Los Angeles Derby Dolls’ Varsity Brawlers January 28th in their first home game of the season.

Last season, The Swarm made it to the championship bout for the third year in a row but were not successful in bringing the trophy home.

With the addition of the Diego Rollers team to the San Diego Derby Dolls, some of The Swarm were branched off to spread their experience among a roster of eager and fresh skaters.

San Diego will no longer be contenders for the LADD Championship, so The Swarm is now directing their focus on beating their sister team, the Diego Rollers.

The Swarm’s 2012 roster is comprised of recognizable seasoned skaters as well as some of San Diego's up and coming athletes. This dynamic combo of experience and enthusiasm will surely show the stinging power of this newly restructured team. 

"The Swarm's new team is a very different roster than last year with some oldies and many newbies," Swarm Captain OB Noxious said on their website. "Despite their differences, they are all equally hungry for victory. 

"What shall The 2012 Swarm bring to the table this year," Nox continued. "Only one way to find out. See you at the track!"

As the season opener and with only nine home games this year, this bout could easily sell out. Buy tickets in advance to be sure you get a seat on the bleachers.

Saturday's Season Opener

See the Derby Dolls Swarm vs the LA Varsity Brawlers go head-to-head at Wyland Hall at the Del Mar Fairgrounds at 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd. in Del Mar, this Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012.

Doors open at 6 pm, bouts begin at 7 pm. These are all age events and bleacher seats, as well as general admission (standing room only) are available.

Half-time entertainment will be provided by the "Baja Bugs," back by popular demand.
