Scott Herman's Getting Fit VIDEO: Ab pulldown

This workout video will show exercisers how to do Scott Herman's Ab pulldown workout.

Starting position

1. The first thing you will need to do is attach an EZ-curl bar to a cable machine.

2. Hold the bar so that your hands are close together and your fingertips are facing your back.

3. Be sure to keep your back arched, knees at a 90˚ angle, feet together, and maintain a neutral spine during the exercise.

Action

1. Pull the EZ-curl bar down far enough so that your elbows touch your knees.

2. Slowly return to the starting position and repeat.

Scott Herman's Getting Fit VIDEO: Advanced ball crunch

Starting position

1. Start off by finding a suitable ball to use.
2. Next, place your legs on the ball and hold yourself up with your arms straight, your hands shoulder width apart, and keep the middle of your back raised.

Action

1. Once in position, maintain a neutral spine and begin to roll the ball toward your arms by bringing your knees to your chest.

2. Your tips of your toes should be on the ball when in the crunched position.

3. After you finish your first crunch, return to the starting position and repeat.

Starting position

Start off by laying down on the ground. Put your feet together and keep them about 12 inches in front of your bum. This will cause your legs to form almost a 90˚ angle. Once in position make sure your back is arched and that your spine is in the neutral position. Keep your face parallel with the ceiling at all times as your lift your head. Only put your fingertips on the back of your head to make sure that you do not assist the crunch with your arms.

Action

1. As you crunch make sure that your shoulder blades come off the ground.

Openly gay hunk Dirk Shafer releases fitness VIDEO

LOS ANGELES – Health and fitness guru Dirk Shafer, who is openly gay, is releasing a new fitness DVD in time for holiday shopping.

“Swapoutworkout” teaches anyone, regardless of their fitness level, how to build and keep a better body, Shafer said.

Recently turning 50, Shafer appeared in the fall issue of PlayGirl, 20 years after he was named the magazine’s “Man of the Year” in the 1992. A former model, Shafer is an outspoken advocate for LGBT rights across the globe.
