San Francisco 49ers release "It Gets Better" VIDEO

SAN FRANCISCO -- The NFL's San Francisco 49ers on Thursday released an "It Gets Better" video to condemn bullying and to support LGBT youth.

Appearing in the video are Ricky Jean Francois and Isaac Sopoaga, defensive tackles; Donte Whitner, safety; and Ahmad Brooks, linebacker.

The Advocate reports that sports fan Sean Chapin and his Change.org petition may have helped influence the Niners. Chapin has successfully petitioned the San Francisco Giants baseball team to make a video for the "It Gets Better" Project.

Junior Seau autopsy report reveals little

SAN DIEGO – The autopsy report for Junior Seau, a former star defensive player for the San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots, reveals no clues to why he killed himself on May 2.

Seau was found dead in his home in Oceanside. He was 43.

The autopsy results, released by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, showed no signs of illegal drugs or alcohol in Seau’s system, according to the Associated Press.

Lesbian long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad falls short on Cuba-to-Florida swim

MIAMI – Diana Nyad’s lifelong dream is to swim 103 miles from Cuba to Florida. It is a seemingly impossible goal to cross the Straits of Florida without using a shark cage and to brave to turbulent weather.

Today, the 62-year-old legendary long-distance swimmer had to be pulled out of the water after almost 42 hours of swimming across the Straits of Florida, according to her blogger Candace Hogan.

Nyad started her swim on Aug. 20 in Havana.

San Diego Pride to host another "Out at the Park" event

SAN DIEGO -- Baseball fans are invited to participate in another round of San Diego Pride's "Out at The Park" event, to be held Tuesday, Aug. 21.

Pride's second LGBT night at Petco Park, for a game matching the San Diego Padres vs. Pittsburgh Pirates, is being held in partnership with the Amateur Sports Alliance of North America (ASANA). The alliance will be holding its world series event in San Diego later this month.
