It's pumpkin Season! With Halloween recently passed, and Thanksgiving to come, many of us have reintroduced pumpkin into our diets for the fall season. Pumpkins are a fantastic source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. According to Chinese Medicine pumpkins are seen as a sweet and warm winter squash that helps to benefit both your spleen and stomach while decreasing inflammation, and boosting your vital energy!
Pumpkins are a high source of beta-carotene, vitamin C, and also potassium. They also help to prevent arterosclerosis or hardening of the arteries, and therefore can help to prevent heart attacks or strokes.
A USDA study has also indicated that a diet, which is high in pumpkin fiber, can help to curb your appetite. Meanwhile, pumpkin also provides more food substance for a much lower calorie count. More, subjects of the USDA study were found to absorb less fat calories from their food while eating pumpkin. So, not only is pumpkin a highly nutritious fall treat that can positively benefit the health of your digestive system, but it can also help you curb your hunger during this coming holiday season.
