South Bay Pride's annual art and music festival will be held on Saturday, August 20 from 12 pm to 7 pm. What started out as a relatively modest event 8 years ago, has grown by leaps and bounds, and now draws a couple thousand visitors to Memorial Park in Historic Downtown Chula Vista for this annual tradition. Non-stop entertainment, plenty of parking, and no cover charge are just some of the perks this celebration in the park has to offer.
Highlights of the pride fest include live shows by well known entertainers Danielle LoPresti and the Masses, Rythm and the Method, Tori Roze and the Hot Mess, Roxy Blue and the Handful, Todo Mundo, San Diego Drag Kings, comedians from the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Show and a performance by the Gay Men’s Chorus. Once again, Laura Jane is the hostess with the mostess on the mic, and there will be a beer and wine garden, an assortment of food vendors, as well as local businesses and community organizations displaying their products and resources.
South Bay Pride 2011 will also feature artists from Art of Pride in the Art Exhibit, which showcases original pieces by professionals and students. This is a family friendly event and Family Matters will be providing entertainment for the kids in the Children's Garden.
The goal of the annual fair has always been to increase LGBT visibility, bring people together for a fun filled, family-oriented day and connecting consumers with gay friendly business.
The festival grounds are located at 373 Park Way, Chula Vista CA. For more information contact Marci Bair at 619.851.3468 or SouthBayAlliance@gmail.com or go to www.SouthBayPride.org
