Hello 2012! Did you resolve to meet new friends in a fun environment, to get more exercise, or to learn something new?
You can reach each of those goals, and more, by catching the LGBT social wave that’s rolling across this country – same-sex Ballroom and Latin Dance! Get your dancing and social mojo going – and have a lot of fun doing it!
Diversity DanceSport is a dance and social club for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community, focusing on primarily international ballroom and Latin dancing, and creating an alternative to the already existing club and country western scene.
Beginner classes are held on Mondays, 6:30 – 7:30 pm at the San Diego LGBT Community Center. Intermediate classes are held on Tuesdays, 7:00 – 8:00 pm at Infinity DanceSport Center. Beginners are encouraged; no partner necessary.
Kurt Popp, an internationally recognized expert in the art of teaching dance, teaches both classes. Popp’s extensive experience and credentials include the ISTD fellowship for international ballroom and Latin dancing, licentiate degree in theatre arts dancing (USISTD), double associate degree in American rhythm and smooth dancing with DVIDA and USISTD, and 30 years+ teaching experience of amateurs and professionals in international and American style for social dancing, competing, shows, and professional examination preparations.
He is also an open professional international style 10-dance champion and a pro-am competitor in international standard and Latin, as well as in American rhythm and smooth.
Popp’s mission is to build a Ballroom and Latin Dance community in San Diego where people feel welcome and can experience the pure joy of dancing.
January and February class special: Buy-One-Get-One-Free! Two people dance for the price of one for your first class, or an individual gets two classes for the price of one.
