In honor of raising the 65′ Hillcrest Pride Flag, Fabulous Hillcrest is hosting a premier event, the Pride of Hillcrest Block Party to kick off Pride weekend with urban style and flare. On Friday evening, July 20, San Diego Pride and Fabulous Hillcrest present the Pride of Hillcrest Block Party from 6:00 -11:00 pm.

The program starts with the annual Stonewall Rally, followed by the raising of the gigantic rainbow flag ceremony. This year the rally returns to the heart of Hillcrest being held at Harvey Milk and Normal Streets (one block from The Center). Keynote speaker is Dr. Clarence B. Jones, who served as personal legal counsel to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and helped draft “I Have A Dream.” Dr. Jones is Scholar in Residence at Stanford’s MLK Research & Education Institute. He is also one of the most prominent and vocal African-American supporters of LGBT civil rights and same sex marriage, and recently introduced President Obama at a CA event.

From 7:00 – 11:00 pm San Diego Pride is shutting down the streets, bringing in the dance stages, and throwing a gigantic Friday night block party.
Take a ride on the Hillcrest Pride Flag Viewing Ferris Wheel and enjoy the breath-taking new sight of the rainbow flying high, then dance the night away on the open air dance floor with headliner Neon Hitch and DJs John Joseph, Dirty Kurty and Nikno.
