SDGLN Poll: 80% of readers support ending boycott if Doug Manchester sells hotel

An overwhelming majority of readers of San Diego Gay & Lesbian News who took our poll say they would favor ending the boycott of the Manchester Grand Hyatt if it is sold.

Doug Manchester, owner of the Manchester Grand Hyatt and the subject of a long-standing boycott because of his support of the Yes on 8 campaign to overturn gay marriage rights in California, has agreed to sell his 1,625-room hotel for $570 million to Host Hotels & Resorts. The deal is pending.

Our poll question was: If Doug Manchester sells the Manchester Grand Hyatt, would you support ending the boycott of the hotel?

The results, which are not scientific, reveal that 80% of readers would agree to lifting the boycott. Only 20% of the readers say they would continue boycotting the hotel.

The SDGLN Reader Poll is open for voting for seven consecutive days. A new poll question will debut each Monday.

This week’s poll question asks readers: Is gay marriage something you would consider?
