WASHINGTON – The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) today called on Boyd K. Packer, the president of the Mormon Church’s Quorum of Twelve Apostles, to correct statements he made Sunday calling same-sex attraction “impure and unnatural,” claiming that it can be corrected and characterizing same-sex marriage as immoral.

WASHINGTON – A federal court late this week dismissed a lawsuit by the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) filed last month in Rhode Island.

NOM, the leading anti-LGBT force in the country, argued that it should be able to run ads on behalf of Rhode Island Republican gubernatorial candidate John Robitaille, who strongly opposes marriage equality, without having to report its expenditures or comply with other campaign finance laws.

NOM is embarking on a ruthless campaign this election cycle to defeat candidates who support marriage equality.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – An openly gay sophomore at Johnson & Wales was found dead in his residence hall room on Wednesday, Sept. 29.

Raymond Chase, 19, had hanged himself in the dormitory, according to various news sources.

“The campus community is mourning the loss of this vibrant young man who leaves many JWU friends and teachers, and a loving family of Monticello, N.Y.,” Ronald Martel, vice president of student affairs and dean of students, said in a statement.

INDIANAPOLIS -- A Downtown radio station served cupcakes this morning in support of an IUPUI organization that was denied a cookie order at a City Market shop.

A large crowd had gathered outside WNOU-FM (100.9) for the “Gay Cupcake Party.” Scotty Davis’ “The Scotty Show” was serving cupcakes to bring awareness to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community after the denied cookie order, according to the station’s website.
