Organizer of Atlanta’s Black Gay Pride is found shot to death

ATLANTA – The co-owner of the popular Traxx Atlanta nightclub, who also is the organizer of Atlanta’s Black Gay Pride, was fatally shot early Wednesday.

The body of Durand Robinson of Decatur, Ga., was found in the middle of Hadlock Street in southwest Atlanta at about 1:30 a.m., and police said he has been shot in the chest.

"I can't speak for the Denver Police Department," says Cynthia Parker, a member of LGBTQ. "But I can tell you that's not typical of any police officer."

Parker is a former Washington, D.C., police officer and correctional officer with the state of Maryland.

Christopher Street gay bar battles bid to close it

NEW YORK -- Gay activists and civil rights lawyers will go to court Thursday to try to stop the NYPD from closing Chi Chiz, a Christopher Street bar that caters to homosexual and transgendered black men.

The police claim in Manhattan Supreme Court that on four instances in a six-month period, undercover officers witnessed the sale of marijuana, cocaine and other controlled substances in the bar, which opened 12 years ago.

VIDEO: Texas school won’t enroll daughter of lesbian couple

BEDFORD, Texas - A Bedford couple is upset that their daughter was denied admission to a private Episcopal school. The school says it does not agree with their lesbian lifestyle.

Jill and Tracy Harrison were married in Canada in 2006.

Last month they filled out admission forms to enroll their daughter, Olivia, into St. Vincent’s Episcopal School.

Jill wrote her name next to the word “mother” on the forms. She crossed out “father” and wrote in “mother” next to Tracy's name as well.
