Hundreds of thousands march in Paris to oppose marriage equality

PARIS — Several hundred thousand people converged at the Eiffel Tower in Paris on Sunday to protest the French president’s plan to legalize same-sex marriage and allow same-sex couples to adopt and conceive children.

The protest march started at three points across Paris, filling streets throughout the city as demonstrators walked more than 3 miles to the grounds of the Eiffel Tower. Paris police estimated the crowd at 340,000, making it one of the largest demonstrations in Paris since an education protest in 1984.

Gay serial killer gang resurfaces

CAPE TOWN, South Africa -- South African police are looking into whether an organized gang that robs and murders gay men may now be operating in Cape Town following another similar killing.

Since April of 2010, eight gay men have been found murdered under similar circumstances in the South African province of Gauteng, which houses the cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria.

The gang allegedly gain the trust of their victims so that they will let them into their homes where they are then tied up and strangled before the gang ransack their homes for valuables.

Landmark pro gay verdict delivered in Serbia court

NOVI SAD, Serbia -- A court in the city of Novi Sad in northern Serbia made legal history after it fined a man for discriminating against his gay colleague.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – A federal judge heard arguments today in a case charging that homophobic pastor Scott Lively’s actions in anti-gay efforts in Uganda constitute persecution under U.S. and international law.

Kenya: Police hunt gang accused of raping gay men

Police in Kenya are investigating reports of a gang accused of blackmailing – and in some cases even raping gay men in the African nation.

Identity Kenya reports the gang, made up of around five men and a police officer, has been targeting men who are not open about their sexuality.

The gang operates by luring men to houses in Nairobi, where they are then robbed and in some cases sexually assaulted.

According to the Gay and Lesbian Coalition of Kenya (GALCK), extortion is one of the biggest problems facing the country’s LGBT community.
