SAN DIEGO -- San Diego LGBT Pride relies on the support of nearly 1,000 volunteers to make the annual rally, parade and festival celebrations happen.
The organization still needs more volunteers for this July's event and interested volunteers have until Thursday, June 30, to sign up.
After that date, Pride will close volunteer registration for this season.
San Diego Pride, which is one of the largest celebrations of its type in the nation, will be held July 15-17 in Hillcrest and Balboa Park. Volunteers are needed in a number of areas such as parade and festival set-up, ticket sales, beverage gardens, safety, hospitality and many others.
Volunteers who complete at least one shift of five-hours in length will receive free admission to the two-day festival; a meal voucher for each shift worked; a volunteer T-shirt; access to the "Volunteer Village" at the festival; an invitation to the annual volunteer appreciation party in August; and numerous other perks.
All new and returning volunteers must register in Pride's volunteer database system to be eligible to participate this year. The user friendly site allows volunteers to create a profile and select their preferred volunteer area and shifts.
