Coming this weekend: Pet adopt-a-thon hopes to find homes for 50 furry friends

LA MESA, Calif. — Love blooms with animals in your life!

Grossmont Center is celebrating its 50th anniversary by partnering with the San Diego Humane Society for a three-day adopt-a-thon event at the Grossmont Center Mall in La Mesa from noon to 5 pm Friday, July 8, through Sunday, July 10.

The goal is to find homes for 50 animals during the three-day event. Puppies, dogs, kittens, cats and rabbits will be up for adoption at a reduced fee of $50.

Adopting an animal at the Adopt-a-thon event will also include:

-- Adopt a buddy for no additional charge

-- The first 50 adopters will receive a Grossmont Center $50 gift card, one per household

-- Adopters will be automatically entered into a raffle for a chance to win two tickets to the San Diego Humane Society’s 25th annual Fur Ball Gala on Saturday, Aug. 20, and many other prizes.

There will be giveaways, raffle prizes and lots of fun with The Walrus 105.7 AM Drive personality Dave Mason, who will broadcast live from the event. Follow Grossmont Center and the San Diego Humane Society on Facebook for a chance to name the mascot dog and cat of the event. The winning name selected for each animal will win a $50 gift card!
