Take your photo today for The Advocate's "A Gay Day in America"

Photos selected from those taken on Friday, August 12 will be used in November photo essay

Get your cameras ready because today is the day.

The national LGBT magazine The Advocate is asking for members of the community to take photos of themselves today, Friday, August 12, 2010, to be considered for inclusion in their upcoming "A Day in Gay America" project.

They request that you submit a photograph yourself, depicting you with either your family and/or friends, or alone -- doing anything "mundane, insane, glamorous or gritty" -- but it must be taken Friday, August 12.

You don't need to be a professional photographer and you can have someone else take the photograph, as well.

Editors will choose from the photos submitted, those to be used for a feature photo essay in the upcoming November print edition of The Advocate.

Submissions must be received no later than Friday, August 19.
