SAN DIEGO -- While Hillcrest is known for its celebrations, the annual Mardi Gras event is like no other! Tonight, Fat Tuesday, thousands of Hilcresters and others are expected to attend the 11th annual street fair taking place on University Avenue at Fourth Avenue from 6 to 11 pm.

Organizers of the event invite the community to celebrate one last indulgence before Lent, with the color and flair that only Hillcrest can provide. The event will include music, food, drinks, dancing, entertainment and beads!

A new feature this year will be a high-energy dance stage hosted by Rich's nightclub, featuring a line-up of popular local DJs, inlcuding Nikno, Taj, Marcel and Dirty Kurty.

The Viejas Main Stage will feature a strong lineup of entertainment with Tootie and the Lips Girls, along with 1980s cover legend "Way Cool." Attendees will also have the opportunity to win a selection of great prizes, including a four-night stay in Puerto Vallarta, courtesy of Shell Vacations.

Tickets are $20 for general admission or $75 for a VIP ticket, which includes express entry, private reception area and private bathrooms.

Proceeds from the event will benefit youth scholarships and Hillcrest community improvements.
