SAN DIEGO -- As the dust settles on the 2012 San Diego LGBT Pride celebration, held in July, the organization has announced the winning contingents from this year's Pride Parade and has honored the 2012 volunteers of the year.
This year's San Diego LGBT Pride Parade, held Saturday, July 21, set attendance records with over 200,000 people estimated to line the streets to watch the event pass by. Nearly 200 contingents participated in this year's parade, with the following being honored:
Crowd Favorite: Military Contingent
Decorated Vehicle: Rainbow RV
Marching: Cheer Elite
Decorated Flatbed or Float: Martini's Above Fourth
Best Balloon: Palm Springs Pride
Best Use of Theme (tie): Bourbon Street; Cheers
The organization also honored its army of volunteers at a special beach party celebration last weekend. Several hundred volunteers work many hours throughout the weekend and year-round to help San Diego Pride put on its events and programs.
