The Center's Young Professionals Council to host mixer Wednesday

SAN DIEGO -- The Young Professionals Council (YPC) of the San Diego LGBT Community Center will host its next social mixer on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Uptown Tavern.

Community members are invited to attend the free event to mingle and learn more about the group.

YPC is a diverse group of young LGBT professionals and allies, dedicated to the preservation and future growth of the San Diego LGBT Community Center, while fostering a culture of diversity, service, leadership, advocacy and camaraderie among young LGBT San Diegans while developing the next generation of LGBT and LGBT-allied civic leaders.

The group also operates the Young Professionals Council Academy, which helps to expand the ranks of young LGBT leaders that are ready to further equality for our community through board service for a variety of agencies, not-for-profit organizations and government commissions.

Several members of YPC will be present at the Wednesday's mixer, and will also be raising money for their AIDS Walk team. Those who make a donation to the team will be receive a "shoe" to write their name on as a recognition for the contribution.

The mixer will go from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. There is no cost to attend.

Uptown Tavern is located at 1236 University Ave. in Hillcrest. The mixer will be take place in the venue's back lounge.
