TONIGHT: San Diego's LGBT community members to organize a Toast to Harvey Milk | VIDEO

SAN DIEGO -- In recognition of gay civil rights leader Harvey Milk's birthday, two community members have organized a walk of remembrance and a toast this evening from 7-8 pm.

Community members are invited to meet in front of The San Diego LGBT Community Center to take a stroll down the nation's first Harvey Milk Street, which was unveiled in Hillcrest a year ago. The street runs from Centre Street to Cleveland Avenue.

Japanese gay porn star Masaki Koh dies at age 29

TOKYO – Popular Japanese gay porn star and LGBT advocate Koh Masaki died on Saturday, May 18, of complications from surgeries. He was 29.

Masaki’s partner Tien Tien reported his death on the actor’s website. Tien said that Masaki “was receiving treatments from a ruptured cecal (which is considered the beginning of the large instestine) due to peritonitis and has had surgery several times since last month.”

Church of Scotland votes to allow gay ministers

The Church of Scotland's General Assembly voted Monday night to allow gay and lesbian clergy.

The proposal must be endorsed by the Church's regional presbyteries and officially confirmed next year by the General Assembly.

The Church of Scotland appointed its first openly gay minister four years ago, and the decision caused a rift within the Church. Two congregations and six ministers split from the Church in protest.

Hillcrest Business Association unveils plans for LGBT historical monument

SAN DIEGO -- Several dozen community members gathered at The San Diego LGBT Community Center Thursday evening to hear the Hillcrest Business Association's (HBA) plans for the base of the Hillcrest Pride Flag.

The flag pole, which was installed last July, has swiftly become an important community landmark and HBA sought community input at the meeting as it begins work on Phase 2 of the project, which will include a LGBT historical monument at the base of the pole.
