Request for Quote: HBA seeks online business directory developer

SAN DIEGO -- The Hillcrest Business Association (HBA) has released a Request for Quotes (RFQ) for an online member directory project it will take on this spring. HBA plans to post the directory with information about each of its member businesses so that consumers have an easy way to find shopping, dining, and other services in the neighborhood.

Through the RFQ, HBA is looking for proposals to create the online directory database, with a number of requirements as listed in the request. Those interested in submitting a quote should do by 5 pm on April 30.

Fashionably Out: My little Chanel jacket

We all have that one expensive item we wish to one day own before we sashay away from this glamorous world.

For some people, a pair of Prada shoes to wear in their Sunday’s best. For others, a couple of Hermes bangles for some luxurious arm candy. And though we may not have enough numbers in our bank accounts to splurge on these needs, we can still cross over and make our fantasy a reality.

I know I did.

Ever since the fashion gods cast their blessing upon me, I became obsessed over Chanel’s little black jacket.

Hillcrest: San Diego's "den of sin"

SAN DIEGO -- A newly created map of the Hillcrest neighborhood describes the area in ways that it is known better known by many of its residents and visitors.

Life with Benny: Signs of the times

With so much of our activism done online and through Social Media these days, it's a lot of fun to see the various posters people make when attending marriage equality rallies and other LGBT pride events.

Monday evening's rally held in San Diego - on the eve of the Supreme Court's Prop 8 hearing - had plenty of great handmade signs and posters in support of equality - including one that went viral!

Check out some of my favorites that were spotted in photos after the event:

Hillcrest Farmers Market to expand

SAN DIEGO -- The Hillcrest Farmers Market, one of San Diego's largest and longest running weekly markets, will expand its footprint starting Sunday, April 7.

The expansion is the result of the 16-year-old market's incredible growth of vendors and customer foot traffic and is necessary to keep up with the demand.

Heart & Soul: Living in the WOW

In 2013, we aren’t always very patient.

Fax machines aren’t fast enough, so we scan and then email whatever it is. And the email better be there in the blink of an eye (or faster), or we will be looking for a new service provider.

We don’t want to get dressed to go to the ATM to deposit a check, so we can scan it on our smart phone and the funds go right into our bank account.
We stand in front of the microwave and yell “hurry!” (Well, at least I do, but don’t tell anyone.)
