Trans View: "Work it" to your advantage

After decades of women complaining that men were paid better and obtained better jobs, the high-heeled shoe is finally on the other foot.

ABC, the network that brought LGBT personalities to the air in shows such as Modern Family, Brothers & Sisters, and the heavily promoted Chaz Bono on "Dancing with the Stars," most recently televised a new program "Work It," a comedy similar to the 1980s "Bosom Buddies" with Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari.

The stage play kicks the insanity of the show up about a hundred notches, with the premise being the girls open a brothel to save their beloved dorm house.

I know it's not a fun topic, but it's a necessary conversation to have.

Many individuals recognize the benefits of planning for the future.  Such efforts often uncover problems and frequently provide the motivation to make needed changes. 

For the most part, the issues involved are positive and enjoyable (i.e. retirement, well–educated children, etc.).

Nature loves variety. Unfortunately, society hates it.

It is highly likely that you have passed a transgender person on the street, at the grocery store, in the bank, at the gym, and, yes, even in a public restroom, without even knowing that that person was transgender.

A transgender person is not just a clone of another transgender person. He or she is different and unique, just as is every other person.

Transgender people are those who transgress gender norms of society by attempting to transition into the correct gender of which they should have been born.

Delaware celebrates first same-sex civil unions

WILMINGTON, Del. -- Two women became the first couple in Delaware joined in a same-sex, civil-union ceremony during a stirring and historic service at their Wilmington church Sunday afternoon.

At Trinity Episcopal Church, fellow Delaware attorneys, as well as judges, legislators, friends and family members witnessed the tearful vows exchanged by Lisa B. Goodman and Drewry Fennell -- advocates who for years fought for anti-discrimination laws and state recognition of same-sex relationships.

Johnny Weir tweets: “I’m married!”

NEW YORK – On New Year’s Eve, former Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir excitedly told his Twitter followers that he got hitched to his boyfriend Victor Voronov.

Weir tweeted: “I'm married! @vitya_zvesda ♥”

Voronov tweeted: “Ringing in the New Year with my new hubby @JohnnyGWeir! #ELATED.”

Weir later tweeted more details: “Wedding in summer! But all the official stuff is done now! No more livin' in sin!”

Voronov changed his name to Weir-Voronov on his Twitter account, which notes that he is a newlywed, a Georgetown Law graduate and prepping for the New Jersey Bar in 2012.
