Divorce between gay and lesbian couples is very similar to that of heterosexual couples, with some basic differences.

The biggest similarity is whether you have either registered as domestic partners, gotten married, or done both, you must legally terminate that relationship. You can’t just walk away.

A legally recognized relationship carries with it certain rights and responsibilities which continue until the relationship is legally terminated.

Furthermore, if such a relationship is not terminated, you cannot legally enter into another such relationship.

LGBT seniors are entitled to equal treatment, access to services, and basic legal protections under state and federal law.

The Federal Nursing Home Reform Act, enacted in 1987, requires nursing facilities to protect the rights of each resident. Nursing homes must list and give all new residents a copy of these rights.

Although there is no federal law that explicitly prohibits discrimination against LGBT elders in retirement and care facilities, more than twenty states have adopted their own non-discrimination policies.

Books about LGBT parenting are few and far between, but here are ten that I recommend for all LGBT parents and prospective parents.

I chose works that each showcase a variety of voices, rather than single-person memoirs, so each one would resonate as widely as possible. I also chose books that focus on the emotional side of parenting rather than medical and legal how-to works, since the latter tend to be specific to particular segments of the LGBT community.

OCEANSIDE -- Beautiful, buxom, blues singer Candye Kane just got back to her home in Oceanside this week-- after several months on tour all over Europe -- to find a couple of her close friends had painted her house for her.

"It looks amazing! so caribbean!" she gushed to her Facebook followers.
