UPDATED: Hot Flash Inferno dance party kicks off 2011 with DJ dirty Kurty at U-31

SAN DIEGO -- The ladies from Hot Flash Dances have another fun-filled evening planned this Saturday - but the event has moved to a new location!

After spending its first two years at The Flame on Park Boulevard, Saturday's Inferno dance event will kick off 2011 at U-31 on University Blvd. in North Park.

Also new for 2011 is the addition of guest DJs.

San Diego Women's Chorus welcomes new members to its 24th season

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Women's Chorus (SDWC) has served as an outlet for women to express their creativity through music for over 24 years.

The group is opening up its ranks to new members at its first rehearsal of the 2011 spring season on Sunday, Jan. 9.

SDWC is a lesbian-identified chorus that strives to entertain, educate and inspire its audience. All women are welcome to join the non-auditioned choral ensemble as long as they can match their pitch to the piano.

SAN DIEGO -- The women behind Hot Flash Dance Parties L.L.C. are tickled pink to bring you the 2nd anniversary of their Inferno Tea Dance, this Saturday at The Flame in Hillcrest.

The two year anniversary of the company's San Diego event, dubbed the Pink Party, will be quite the celebration and include prizes, contests, a live band, retro dance tunes and more. The activities start at 5:30 p.m. and run until 9:30 p.m. The ladies say you'll want to get there early to take it all in and get some added surprises.

Two literary events for women planned in August at The Center

SAN DIEGO – Two literary events for the ladies are planned this month at The Center in Hillcrest.

“Ladies, Laughter & Literature,” targeting bookworms in search of a book group, will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4.

The Women’s Resource Center’s book club, L3: Ladies, Laughter & Literature, meets on the first Wednesday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. in The Center’s library. There is great variety in the books chosen, but the group primarily reads fiction. Books are selected each month by popular vote.
