"Red Hot Pride" women's dance takes place Saturday at The Center

SAN DIEGO -- Kick off your Pride festivities a week early by attending “Red Hot Pride,” The Center’s annual dance for women.

“Red Hot Pride” will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 10, in The Center’s auditorium in Hillcrest.

DJ Laura Jane will be in the house spinning dance hits and party tracks. Enjoy dancing, mingling, snacks, giveaways and a no-host bar for $5 per person. Women 21 and older are welcome.

Lesbian romance novelist Kim Baldwin is touching a heart in San Diego

MICHIGAN -- A 20-year veteran of network news, Kim Baldwin retired from a life of journalism in 1997, took a couple years off and then began dabbling in fiction.

She released her first novel in 2004 and has not stopped climbing the ladder of success since.

Grand slam: Tennis great Martina Navratilova, Toni Layton settle "divorce" for $3 million

NEW YORK – Tennis legend Martina Navratilova and her ex-partner Toni Layton have settled their bitter “divorce” for an estimated $3 million, numerous media are reporting today.

The couple were together for eight years before breaking up about two years ago. They were waging a legal war over money, more than a dozen cars, four homes, a boat, artwork, jewelry, pets and even an animal sanctuary in Florida.

As a bargaining chip, Layton vowed to expose Navratilova’s dirty secrets. But in the end, they agreed to a settlement in which the terms were to be kept confidential.

Julianna hits Hillcrest once again

This past weekend, I learned that I am a classy girl; which is definitely a step up from being a trashy boy.

My old alter-ego Julianna came back to life Saturday night, re-styled, grown-up and ready to party. Her dress was a bit longer than they used to be and her face and hairstyle were a bit more Coco Peru than the old Hedwig style, but for the first time since 2003, I dressed up in drag.

Women's Fest coming to The Center on May 8

SAN DIEGO -- Women’s Fest 2010 will take place Saturday, May 8, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., at The Center (3909 Centre St., Hillcrest). Women’s Fest is a daylong festival of workshops, entertainment and resources for lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LBT) women and their allies.

The goal of this free festival is to empower LBT women to learn new skills, celebrate women's creativity, build a stronger community and gain access to essential health resources.

Women's Fest set for May 8 at The Center

SAN DIEGO -- The schedule for the educational, inspiring and eye-opening Women’s Fest 2010 has been announced.

Women’s Fest is a day of entertainment, workshops and fun for lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LBT) women and their allies.

The event is free and is meant to help and empower LBT women to learn, gain access to important medical resources and celebrate women’s creativity.

Women’s Fest 2010 will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at The Center, 3909 Centre St. in Hillcrest.
