S.T.A.G.E. to benefit AIDS Project Los Angeles

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- A constellation of Broadway, television, and film stars will perform for the 29th annual S.T.A.G.E. Gala, taking place Saturday, April 6. The event will benefit AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA).

S.T.A.G.E. is the longest-running annual musical HIV/AIDS fundraiser in the world. This one-night-only gala raises critical funds for APLA, which is one of the largest non-profit AIDS service organizations in the United States. With nearly 30 years of service, APLA is a community-based, volunteer-supported organization with local, national, and global reach.

Art Project Los Angeles, created by Hamilton-Selway Fine Art Gallery and benefiting APLA, is a premier, red-carpet reception and art auction that has featured works by Basquiat, Haring, Hockney, Longo, Picasso, Ruscha, Warhol, along with a range of local artists, sculptors, photographers, home furnishers, and more.

AIDS Project Los Angeles to host first Jolly St. Knickers fundraiser run

LOS ANGELES -- AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) and TEAM TO END AIDS (T2) have teamed up to present the first Jolly St. Knickers Run on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 9 am. The three-mile run will begin at the Abbey Food and Bar and benefit APLA’s Vance North Necessities of Life Program food pantries.

Participants are encouraged to wear holiday-inspired attire as they run, walk, or skip through the streets of West Hollywood.

Maria Mejia brings a powerful voice to women living with HIV

Colombia-born Maria Mejia was 18 and living in Kentucky when her blood test results came back with a shocking revelation. The doctor bluntly gave her the news: Maria, you are HIV-positive.

“I believe I got infected at the age of 16 from my first boyfriend who I later found out was an IV drug user,” Mejia said. “I was in shock, especially back then, because it was a death sentence. I thought to myself, ‘I am going home to die.’”
