Mama's Kitchen launches public phase of capital campaign

SAN DIEGO -- Mama’s Kitchen, a meal delivery service for people living in San Diego County who are affected by AIDS or cancer, will host a Capital Campaign Celebration on Thursday, June 20 from 4-7 pm at their headquarters located at 3960 Home Ave. in the Fairmount Park neighborhood of San Diego.

The objective of the event is to show the community the progress the organization has made since it’s move into the 11,000 square-foot building in August 2011, as well as to encourage the public to help them complete the first phase of their capital campaign.

San Diego Democrats for Equality plans to reinvent itself

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Democrats for Equality have begun a process to "reinvent" the club that has been a fixture in the local LGBT community for nearly 40 years.

Club leaders are working on a detailed process in which they will evaluate, assess, and prioritize the club's strategies and explore alternative governance options for restructuring the organization. Throughout the process, the club hopes to address the following objectives:

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Gay Men's Chorus (SDGMC) will host its annual Bachelor Auction fundraiser on Sunday, March 24, to raise money for the programs of the 140-man nonprofit singing group.

The fundraiser will feature 14 men from the chorus's membership and staff who will put themselves out there to support the organization they love. Auction dates include a dinner package following the event.

SDGMC strives to create a positive musical experience through exciting performances that engage audiences, build community support and provide a dynamic force for social change.

Mama's Kitchen's 20th annual Tree of Life Ceremony to be held Saturday in Hillcrest

SAN DIEGO – Mama’s Kitchen will host its 20th annual World AIDS Day Tree of Life ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 1, to recognize and remember those affected by AIDS.

The moving event will feature the lighting of the large holiday Christmas tree that stands in the center of the ground level plaza at the Village Hillcrest shopping center. Participants have the opportunity to purchase an ornament to be placed on the tree, which can be personalized with a message to a loved one. One ornament is $15 and two ornaments are $25, with proceeds benefitting the services of Mama’s Kitchen.
