All Out: Uganda Parliament adjourns, "Kill The Gays" bill in limbo

KAMPALA, Uganda – Parliament adjourned today without debating or voting on the draconian “Kill The Gays” bill. Lawmakers will not return to session until February 2013.

Rebecca Kadaga, Speaker of Uganda’s Parliament, had vowed to pass the “Kill The Gays” bill as a “Christmas gift” to the nation.

Instead, Kadaga was at the Vatican getting blessed by the Pope – an action that is drawing widespread criticism.

Activist: "Keep up the pressure" on Uganda Parliament not to take up "Kill The Gays" bill

KAMPALA, Uganda – Parliament is running out of time to debate and vote on the notorious “Kill The Gays” bill, as the current session ends on Friday, Dec. 14.

The Anti-Homosexuality Bill has fallen to No. 6 on today’s order paper, according to Ugandan LGBT activist Frank Mugisha. “Keep the pressure up,” Mugisha writes on his Facebook page.

In Sacramento, LGBT activists to counter newly formed “ex-gay” movement

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Several well-known LGBT activists will appear this weekend in Sacramento to dispute the scientifically disproved myth that gays can be turned straight.

Wayne Besen, executive director of Truth Wins Out, will give a multimedia presentation on the subject as a new “gays can be cured” group launches in the Sacramento area.

Besen will speak at an event running from 6 to 8:30 pm Saturday, Sept. 22, at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral’s International Hall in Sacramento.

TheFour2012 launches campaign in support of marriage equality

WASHINGTON -- The Four 2012, a new social media campaign in support of marriage equality in the four states where it is on the ballot this November, launched today on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube and Google Plus as TheFour2012.

“It’s Facebook and Twitter meets Rock the Vote for marriage equality,” said Brian Ellner, one of the initiative’s founders and long-time gay rights advocate who helped spearhead the successful New York effort for marriage last year. “We want to energize young pro-equality voters in the Google age.”
