Social Media has "gone purple" for #SpiritDay

SAN DIEGO -- Those who are connected to people who support LGBT equality on Social Media sites such as Facebook likely saw an online sea of purple when logging on this morning. In support LGBT youth and anti-bullying efforts, thousands of people will join in the Spirit Day movement, which encourages people to “go purple.”

First started by Canadian teenager Brittany McMillan in 2010, the campaign has since taken off, now being coordinated GLAAD, with support from The Trevor Project and GLSEN, and corporations like American Apparel and Toyota.

GLAAD, American Apparel unveil new equality T-shirts

LOS ANGELES -- GLAAD and American Apparel, the vertically integrated clothing manufacturer based in downtown Los Angeles, today announced a new partnership and unveiled two shirts to be released in conjunction with LGBT Pride Month.

Fifteen percent of all net sales will benefit GLAAD’s work to share stories from the LGBT community that build support for equality.

Fashion icon Marc Jacobs designs marriage equality T-shirt for HRC

WASHINGTON -- Fashion icon Marc Jacobs is using his influence and design power to join in the fight for marriage equality.

In collaboration with the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), Jacobs has designed a limited edition T-shirt featuring the image of a lesbian couple with their child and the words, "I pay my taxes, I want my RIGHTS!" on the front, and "Marc Jacobs Proudly Supports Human Rights Campaign" on the back.
