San Diego Pride to host another "Out at the Park" event

SAN DIEGO -- Baseball fans are invited to participate in another round of San Diego Pride's "Out at The Park" event, to be held Tuesday, Aug. 21.

Pride's second LGBT night at Petco Park, for a game matching the San Diego Padres vs. Pittsburgh Pirates, is being held in partnership with the Amateur Sports Alliance of North America (ASANA). The alliance will be holding its world series event in San Diego later this month.

Women's softball World Series needs volunteers for upcoming San Diego tourney

SAN DIEGO -- The Amateur Sports Alliance of North America (ASANA) is bringing its annual World Series women's softball championship to San Diego, August 20-25, 2012 and they need some local help.

Created in 1997 with both men and women's teams, the sports non-profit split from the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance (NAGAA) ten years later and took only the women players. It currently boasts 26 participating cities across the country.

Women's Softball World Series comes to San Diego in August

SAN DIEGO -- In August, an expected 75 competitive women's softball teams are expected to descend upon San Diego when the Amateur Sports Alliance of North America (ASANA) holds its annual Softball World Series here.

Called "San Diego Happens: ASANA 2012," the yearly championship tournament will take place August 21-25, 2012.

San Diego's Autumn Classic LGBT softball tournament sells out early

SAN DIEGO — The Autum Classic, the largest annual softball tournament on the West Coast, has already officially "sold out" 10 days ahead of schedule. The local tournament has already accepted the registrations of over 100 teams and will be hosted over the Columbus Day weekend, October 7-9, 2011.

“With over 1,400 athletes coming in from as far away as Philadelphia, Chicago, Orlando and Austin, we are working very hard to make sure this tournament is one of the best we’ve ever put on,” co-director Roman Jimenez said.

White Sox: "No thanks" to Gay Softball World Series invitation

CHICAGO -- The organizers of the 35th annual Gay Softball World Series (GSWS) thought they'd use the opportunity as a teaching moment for some MLB professionals, but it looks like that isn't going to happen.

The GSWS is part of the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance (NAGAAA) and is being hosted this year by the local NAGAAA affiliate in Chicago, August 29 - Sept 3rd.

Women's softball world series coming to San Diego in 2012

SAN DIEGO -- As the local America's Finest City Softball League (AFCSL) gets ready to kick off their 30th anniversary season this weekend, two women who have been longtime members of AFCSL's leadership recently won a coveted prize for the league: a World Series bid.

Dani Goodlett and Stacey Hayashi (pictured) recently travelled to Philadelphia to respond to the exciting opportunity, touting the advantages of America's Finest City to participating delegates. When the final votes were tallied, their bid was a home run and as a result, San Diego will host the 2012 ASANA World Series.
