SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Gay Men's Chorus (SDGMC) will host its annual Bachelor Auction fundraiser on Sunday, March 24, to raise money for the programs of the 140-man nonprofit singing group.

The fundraiser will feature 14 men from the chorus's membership and staff who will put themselves out there to support the organization they love. Auction dates include a dinner package following the event.

SDGMC strives to create a positive musical experience through exciting performances that engage audiences, build community support and provide a dynamic force for social change.

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Gay Men's Chorus will host its annual Bachelor Auction fundraiser on Sunday, March 24, to raise money for the programs of the 140-man non-profit singing group.

The event will take place at Flick's, and include drink specials, a raffle and other surprises. Popular local entertainers Ophelia and Erika Odessa will host the show and auction the guys off to the highest bidders. Each auction comes with a dinner package at a local restaurant, immediately following the event.

An app and a trolley: How parking in Hillcrest just got easier

SAN DIEGO -- Everybody loves Hillcrest but one of the chief complaints that business owners, neighborhood groups and community leaders in the area hear is about a lack of parking - whether it be perceived or real.

On Thursday, the Hillcrest Business Association (HBA) and Uptown Community Parking District hosted a high-profile launch of ParkHillcrest, a program that has been created to make parking and getting around the neighborhood easier. The program includes a parking website and smart phone app, as well as a free neighborhood trolley shuttle.

COMMUNITY PROFILE: Caleb Rainey shares his passion for learning through book club

SAN DIEGO -- Caleb Rainey is passionate about creating dialogue within the LGBT community. So passionate, in fact, that he started a local book club to discuss issues that affect the community, such as racism, internalized homophobia, sexual violence and anti-immigrant attitudes.

Rainey says that many of these attitudes are prevalent within the community - especially with the vast amount of diversity that exists among LGBT people - but are rarely discussed. He wants to change this and is doing what he can to start these important conversations.

Event attendees are asked to bring gift cards in any denomination that can be used by YHP residents to purchase everyday items that they might not be able to afford otherwise.
