Bike share program to roll into Downtown Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- As the center of the regional transit system, Downtown is already one of Los Angeles’ easiest neighborhoods to navigate. Now, for those willing to use pedal power, it’s about to get even easier.

The City Council last week approved a new permitting process that officials say will pave the way for a robust bike share program in Downtown, Westwood, Venice and Hollywood.

New biking initiatives take to San Diego's streets

SAN DIEGO -- A new public bicycle corral was the centerpiece of a set of new bike-friendly initiatives launched Sept. 6 in North Park. The initiatives bring San Diego closer to similar commuter environments in two other large cities, both with bike-friendly policies that are a model for the nation and provide a natural fit for San Diego.

San Diego's first bike corral to open today in Hillcrest

SAN DIEGO -- The first city-owned bike corral, located in Hillcrest on Fifth Avenue just north of University Avenue, will officially open today during a noon ribbon-cutting ceremony.

San Diego City Councilmember Todd Gloria, bicycle advocates, neighbors and business owners will celebrate the completion of the corral, which provides dedicated on-street parking for 12 bicycles in the space normally taken by one parked car.
